Omaha Hi is a great poker game to play and a lot of the online poker rooms such as full tilt poker offer tables where you can play this game. Before joining a poker room make sure you read a review of the poker room and make sure that they have Omaha available. Pot Limit Omaha is a very fun game because you always have a lot of draws, but the key is to make sure you don’t chase everything.
In Omaha poker every player is dealt four cards face down and then five cards come onto the board after betting rounds take place. This means players have nine cards to make the best possible five card poker hand which usually means the winning hand is going to be a pretty premium hand.
One thing that is important to remember when you’re playing Omaha on FullTilt Poker is that any hand is good before the flop comes because you never know what could come. This is why you shouldn’t really raise your premium hands because if you do and you don’t hit then you’re going to be in a bad position. Once players catch on to you raising premium hands they will also start calling you with low value hands in hopes of hitting a monster hand on the flop.
Your best bet is to get to the flop for as cheap as possible and see what three cards come out on the flop to see if you have a good draw. Once the flop is out the betting is going to be higher now and you need to determine whether you have a hand worth chasing. If you don’t have a hand with a straight flush draw or nut flush draw then it really isn’t worth calling down to the river chasing unless its really cheap.
You should also keep in mind that bluffing isn’t that widely used in pot limit Omaha because the fact is most online players don’t fold that easily and on pot limit tables the bet can only be as big as the pot. This isn’t to say you can’t bluff on FullTitl, but make sure you’re bluffing on a really tight opponent and not someone who has been chasing draws all day long down to the river.
Position in the hand is also important and you should also keep in mind that acting last is the best position to have on the table. When you get to act last you get to observe your opponents as well as decide if you want to take a free card if noone else has bet. If everyone checks to you it might also mean you have a shot at bluffing the pot, but make sure you bet enough to make your opponents fold. A $2 bet into a $20 pot isn’t usually going to win the pot so keep in mind that the amount you bet is half the battle.
Pot limit Omaha is a very fun game to play on Full Tit and the only thing that I sometimes dislike about the game is the amount of people who chase. This is a problem more so on the low limit tables then anywhere else so if you’re playing low limits then watch out for players who chase every hand and try to get them out early with a big bet.
